My private practice has been cultivated over a 18 year period, marked with an everlasting earnest devotion to developing an evidence-based, multi-modal, executive function-focused treatment model for clients with ADHD and other co-morbid disorders.
The model I have developed provides a systemic framework optimal in focusing on a clients' areas of executive impairment: allowing for, and facilitating, the identification of tools and techniques necessary for the client to discover internal self-directed motivation to self-regulate across different situations during the performance of goal-directed behaviors necessary to achieve life long goals and end states.

For clients who have developed severe, cross-situationally pervasive symptomatology, my ultimate goal and desire is to foster and teach skills necessary for executive control over behavioral and emotional states in response to external stimuli and internal prompts.

Through the use of unique and novel templates and exercises that are prescribed to each clients’ particular needs, introduced and modeled within the home setting, clients are able to decouple their dominant response to events so they can lead their lives with executive, self-directed control of thoughts, behaviors, emotions, and actions while contemplating the future outcomes of those actions.

I implement an individualized executive function (EF) focused cognitive-behavioral based training model, focusing on the types of EF difficulties and deficiencies with the greatest degree of impairment on daily life function.

As an active member of the Children and Adults with Attention Deficit Disorder (CHADD) organization, I regularly pursue knowledge on current ground-breaking empirical research findings and clinical applications that can further the science to enhance treatment for those living with; neurodevelopmental disorders; co-occurring externalizing disorders; Depressive, Anxiety, Impulsive & Disruptive disorders; Substance abuse and related disorders.

Through my membership with the Autism Society, I spend time gathering cutting edge research on affective social-emotional and communication processing impairments, thereby facilitating my ability to work with individuals living with one such condition, creating a systemic and holistic approach to care.

In order to provide specialized treatment approaches to each of my clients, I have pursued Advanced Certifications in fields particularly useful to the struggles my clients face. As early on as I can recall, the efficacy of my approach to treatment was predicated on utilizing, transdiagnostic, systemic, EF-focused, cognitive-behavioral treatment (CBT) models: inclusive of mindfulness techniques & theories, acceptance & commitment ideologies, and incorporating principles espoused in dialectical-behavior therapy (DBT).
The knowledge I gained from attending the courses and seminars required to achieve these advanced certifications through PESI Inc., served as the bedrock from which the multidisciplinary ideologies used in my practice were operationalized and coalesced into a single treatment framework. Attending the annual CHADD conference further bolstered my confidence in the practicality of my treatment methodology.

The following Continuing Education courses cover multiple interdisciplinary fields, all converging to influence my professional development in the construction of individualized treatment plans. These specialized models fall under the general conceptualization of an executive function-focused, cognitive-behavioral, meta treatment framework that identifies disinhibition and impaired self-regulation as shared, common characteristics among many of the disorders that I work with and treat in practice.

GRADUATE EDUCATION - Practicum Level

I currently attend the California School of Professional Psychology (CSPP): Alliant International University MA in Clinical Counseling Program, focusing on 'Integrative Clinical Compassion.' Enrolled in the second year of studies, I have begun my practicum: the stage of my graduate studies where I begin to operationalize the theoretical knowledge gained in Master's level courses, for client's idiosyncratic expression of core pathologies under supervision and guidance. Counseling and therapy sessions follow, and adhere to, strict American Counseling Association (ACA) guidelines, while I continue to absorb practical knowledge in the achievement of my Masters Degree as a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor.

My journey into the field of mental health is based on the foundational support, knowledge, and guidance of many people important to me along the way, but there is one friend, colleague, and mental health practitioner whose skill, expertise, and capacity to empathically attune to the feelings of her client's and colleagues, has put me on the path that I continue to traverse to this day. Lori Sunkin MFT, I have, and forever will, give special thanks for all of the unwavering support you have shown me over the years. Thank You.

I look forward to meeting and working with you and your families on your incredible adventure and journey toward systemic psychological health and well being!
